Italian Lorenzini - Gaspare Lorenzini, circa 1743-1816, lived in Piacenza, Italy. It is believed he studied violin making from Guadagnini. His work is known for full arching, finely attended details red-orange varnish and broad purfling. He also made excellent small violas. The instrument pictured here is in our violin vault; it is believed to have been built in 1804.
