Multiple studies have confirmed that taking music lessons is beneficial for brain development in young children. In fact, enrolling in lessons may even improve a student's GPA! A large-scale study from the University of British Columbia found that "students who participated in music-related activities from grades 7-12 achieve significantly higher test scores" than students who opted not to study music. Music challenges the brain in multiple ways and allows students to express themselves creatively while forging connections with their peers.
