Beginner/Intermediate: At least one year of private lessons or 2-3 years of school orchestra recommended. Participants should be able to sight read easy music in the first position.

Advanced: Several years of private lessons or orchestra, Suzuki Book 4 and higher (or equivalent) is recommended. Participants should be able to shift in higher positions, use vibrato, and sight read.
